Our Story

DFK Mayberry has been in practice in Papua New Guinea for over 40 years. Michael Mayberry, the managing partner, is a former member of the PNG Central Bank Board and is currently Vice President of the PNG Chamber of Commerce and has an MBE and CSM for his services to community in PNG. In 2005, the firm became a member of the worldwide DFK International Accounting and Financial Advisory Group. Currently in 95 countries, DFK International ranks 7th with annual revenues of $1.402 billion from 220 firms, 439 offices and over 11,000+ staff including partners.

Our Core Objectives have always been to:

Accurate record keeping is a key component to the success of your business.

To achieve these objectives in an increasingly complex business environment, the Firm has rigorously adopted the following fundamental principles.

PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY

We strive to maintain the highest standards of practice through a process of selective recruitment, supervision and training and where appropriate membership of the relevant professional bodies in Papua New Guinea.

The investment in technology and the associated staff training is major and ongoing with the resulting capacity equal to the major accounting firms.

CONFIDENTIALITY AND Independence

We do not discuss clients’ affairs with any other person or organisation without the express permission of the client and we regard our independence as a very valuable asset. The Firm maintains strict policies on conflict of interest and any possible conflicts which may impact on our independence are brought to the clients’ attention at the earliest opportunity.

COMMUNICATION AND FEES

Reporting to the client to the fullest extent possible during the course of an engagement improves the relationship and reduces the chances of dispute. In setting our fees our overriding concern is that they must be reasonable and fair to both sides in the circumstances of the particular engagement. An Engagement Letter forms the basis of our contractual relationship. Clients are encouraged to request explanations at any time on all matters relating to advice given and fees charged.

PUBLICATIONS

To further reinforce our commitment to servicing the needs of our clients, we publish an annual guide titled “Doing Business in Papua New Guinea”, including a detailed country tax guide. Copies of such documents are available from our offices.

To date we believe our objectives have been met and can realistically claim we have “the runs on the board” of sound business advice as demonstrated by our growth and achievements since inception.
